Final Reflection First Draft
Throughout my semester in English 110 I had experienced a few months of learning. Having this class be as the second class in which I started my college experience was great. Since I had come to enjoy the time I spent in the class. Having already taken English for a majority of my education, the class was certainly a different experience. Which makes me want to discuss a couple of things about my experience. There are 4 claims that I want to talk about. Which include the fact that I learned how to cite properly, learned how to do better research, learned to implement multimedia, and learned to better my writer’s voice.
Having been able to learn to cite properly was such a helpful thing to learn. Through my education I had been told to cite my sources. Though I realized that I had been doing the bare minimum when it came to siting.During this English 110 class one of the assignments I had to do was a synthesis essay. Having one of the requirements of this essay was to cite your sources. This was to be done in either MLA or APA format. What I had been doing the whole time was putting the links to all of my sources at the bottom of my essays. Though what I had then come to learn was that there are certain ways to cite. Which were those formats to be in a separate page and have a proper title for each link. When I did it for my synthesis essay I had then realized it had made my essay look way better. Making it look more professional and not some sloppy mess like I had been always doing throughout my years of school. After learning how to cite, I will now apply it to all my other research papers in the future.
Also I had learned to do better research. This occurred during one of our classes having to take place in the library. Being in the library my class was taught by one of the library workers. What she discussed was how to do better research and further develop ideas for my synthesis essay. Which was done by making a bubble. The bubble would then be spread out like a spider web. With each string attached to another bubble. Those bubbles contained different ideas. Then what would be done with each bubble is to search for those pieces of information. Which would be done on our college’s library website. Where I learned to find filters for books that would relate to my topic. That was done with my topic of A.I. Searching for A.I books on the library website I had then found some books in which I was able to read properly and get valuable information from. Leading me to from that point on to look for my research topics on the library website and use the bubble strategy to further my ideas.
Also I had learned to implement multimedia in my writing pieces. Throughout the main writing pieces I had done in the semester, my professor had advised us to use multimedia. Multimedia is when you include pictures and videos into your writing piece. This allows for your writing piece to stand out and not have a generic look to it. Though I had seen other writing pieces done the same way, I had never really attempted to use much multimedia through my writing pieces. When my professor advised us to use it, I had found that it was such a fun and interesting aspect to include. Since I had learned to connect pictures to my talking points which could be seen in my language and literacy essay and synthesis essay. The language and literacy essay included religious pictures that connected after every paragraph. Having a correlation with each paragraph that came before it. Also having my Synthesis essay include pictures of A.I through the essay. Having each picture acyaully helped y argument. Since each picture had a message that I wanted to tell the reader of the essay. Which gave my message a more clear path to reach the reader.
Also I had learned to improve my writer’s voice. When going through the class we had read many texts. Those were from June Jordan and Amy Tan. Having read those texts I had felt inspired to improve as a writer. They had such distinct voices in their writing. I wanted to have one as well. Which my professor encouraged the class to as well. Having that being done I tried to use the way I would normally talk into my writing. Which could be seen in my Language and lIteracy essay. Which I had felt more comfortable in writing since its my own words and not some generic writing. Which I had then received a hih grade for the essay. Meaning I had accomplished what strived to do.
